Manchester United are set to break the world record again to secure a £100m deal for Antoine Griezmann this summer with Atletico Madrid targetting Diego Costa as a potential replacement, according to a report by TeamTalk.

Griezmann has developed in to one of the world’s best strikers since joining Atletico from Real Sociedad in 2014 and was named as the Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016 after his 6 goals led France to the final where they eventually lost out to Portugal.

The 25-year-old has notched 12 goals and provided a further 6 assists this season to help Atletico keep pace at the top of the La Liga table and book their place in the last-16 of the Champions League and it appears his potential has attracted interest from England.

Griezmann has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and TeamTalk are citing a report from the Independent that claims United will splash out a £100m to sign the French international this summer after Jose Mourinho made him his top target.

United showed last summer they are prepared to pay huge sums to get who they want having spent a record £89m to land Paul Pogba and if these reports are accurate then the Red Devils could be set to break the world record again this summer.

Griezmann is a close friend of Pogba’s and he’s previously been quoted as saying he would love to play alongside his compatriot at club level, which only further fuelled speculation over a move to Old Trafford.

And it looks as though he may get his wish as TeamTalk’s report also claims that Atletico have given up trying to keep hold of Griezmann this summer and have already identified Diego Costa as a potential replacement.

Costa’s future at Chelsea has been thrown in to doubt following a bust-up with boss Antonio Conte while he’s also been the subject of interest from China but the Blues are understood to be determined to keep hold of the player until the summer.

The 28-year-old scored 64 goals in 135 matches during a four-year spell at Atletico before moving to west London in 2014 and Diego Simeone has never hidden his desire to take Costa back to the Vicente Calderon.

So it looks like two big-money deals are now in the pipe-line for this summer as United get set to spend huge money signing Griezmann with Atletico lining-up unsettled Costa as a replacement.
