Managers are now making moves to try and strengthen their squads during the January transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd join the race for Kieran Tierney….

Manchester United have joined the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea in the race to sign Celtic’s £10m-rated defender Kieran Tierney, according to the Mirror.

Tierney has been with Celtic his entire career having joined their youth set-up at just seven years old and progressed through the ranks before breaking in to the first team in 2015.

The 19-year-old established himself as a vital part of Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven having started in every game this season before suffering an ankle ligament injury back in mid-October.

The left-back was impressing before his untimely injury setback with his performance during Celtic’s 3-3 draw with Manchester City in particular earning him rave reviews and it has seemingly led to plenty of interest south of the boarder.

The Mirror claim that Arsenal have been monitoring Tierney this season with Arsene Wenger eyeing the Scotland international as a potential replacement for Kieran Gibbs – who’s tipped to seek a move this summer in search of regular football.

Chelsea have also been credited with an interest with the newspaper stating that the Blues are also keeping a close eye on Tierney’s progress as Antonio Conte looks to bring in competition for Marcos Alonso in the left wing-back position.

However, it looks as though the London duo will now face stiff competition from Manchester United as the Mirror report indicates that Jose Mourinho is considering launching a move for the Celtic star this month.

It’s claimed in the newspaper that United scouts have been watching Tierney this season but the Manchester giants may opt to wait until the summer to try and sign the player – who’s valued at around £10m by his club.

Tierney would certainly be an exciting addition for United and would provide them with a long-term solution at left-back if they were to win the race for his signature, but with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea also in the running it’s going to be interesting to see where the youngster ends up when he does eventually leave Celtic Park.
