By on January 21, 2017

Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes were dealt a severe blow after Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 3-2 to Swansea City at Anfield this afternoon.

After a goalless opening forty-five minutes the game sprung to life after the break as Swansea opened the scoring with Fernando Llorente poking home from close range following a 48th minute corner.

Just two minutes later the Welsh outfit took a shock 2-0 lead when Llorente sent a superb header past Simon Mignolet following a cross from Tom Carroll but Roberto Firmino immediately pulled one back for Liverpool, heading home a James Milner cross for 1-2.

The Merseysiders scored the equaliser midway through the second half as Firmino showed excellent control before sending a half-volley crashing home for 2-2 in the 69th minute.

However, Swansea restored their lead and netted what turned out to be the winner just five minutes later when Gylfi Sigurdsson fired home in the 73rd minute to secure a huge win for the Swans.

The result sees Paul Clement’s side climb out of the bottom three but it leaves Liverpool trailing leaders Chelsea by seven points and the Blues have the chance to move 10 clear with a win over Hull at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
