The Transfer Window’s Movers and Shakers

The closing week of the January window is here but who’s actually likely to be on the move in this final week of the transfer window and is it worth betting on?

With very little time left in the January transfer window, you would imagine a lot of clubs will be checking their registers and assessing where their squads are lacking but incoming transfers aren’t the only thing that excites during the window – the outgoings can be just as interesting and understanding why a player would leave can be rather complicated.

The rumour mill tends to fuel the media in January as players are believed to be homesick, unhappy with their situations or just money hungry meaning a transfer is on the cards but who’s actually likely to be on the move in this final week of the transfer window and is it worth betting on? Betway reviews suggest that the bookmaker offers some of the best odds online, so we’ve compiled this using their odds.

Cesc Fabregas

The former Arsenal captain clearly isn’t enjoying life under Antonio Conte and who could blame him? The Italian is playing a formation that has no place for a cultured, creative midfielder. Instead, Chelsea are playing very blunt football that has surprised opponents all season and left them comfortably top of the table.

A lot of clubs have been linked with Fabregas under the newspaper radar but the only teams that stand a chance of securing his services are Milan (2/1), Juventus (12/1) and PSG (33/1). The others simply don’t play Fabregas’ style of football.

Bojan Krkic

Stoke City really wasn’t the right place for Bojan when he left Barcelona; a side that tend to loft the ball rather than play it through tend not to suit players who’ve learnt from La Masia. His record hardly speaks for itself either as the striker isn’t actually known for his striking ability.

Rumours of a move to Middlesbrough (4/6) have broken in the press but there’s still a chance of West Ham (9/2) making a late move as they suffer issues with our next candidate.

Dimitri Payet

Wanting to move back to France for family reasons is a viable excuse for handing in a transfer request at your current club. Refusing to play for said club is completely out of order and Payet will no doubt know that he should’ve been honest with the press and his employers; assuming the family concern is his real motivation for leaving.

Payet has a big target on his back for many West Ham fans now and really can’t make another appearance for them but former club Marseille (1/4) are believed to have pulled out on negotiations as West Ham want too much money for the forward. PSG (16/1) don’t really need him but could bid and any Chinese club (10/1) will no doubt make a bid as their Super League heads for Super Implosion.

Pierre Aubameyang

Probably the Dortmund kitman’s favourite piece of news all year, Aubameyang is rumoured to be available as Borussia Dortmund continue to find the attacker’s off field antics too much to deal with. It clearly wasn’t a talent issue when the forward was sold by Milan for just £1 million.

Aubameyang looks set for a move to the moneybags Chinese Super League and any of the Super League Clubs (4/1) could bid for him. Musings of an offer from Real Madrid (4/1) or Liverpool (20/1) are emerging on social media but the move will be about the money for Aubameyang – 100%.

Robbie Brady

A player that some may not be too familiar with; Robbie Brady is a product of the Manchester United youth academy but yet another who failed to make the grade despite his obvious talents. Brady is currently with Norwich City in the Championship but has been touted for a move back to the Premier League where he belongs.

The frontrunners for his signature are currently Burnley (4/7) but there’s a lot of talk about Sam Allardyce falling out with Wilfried Zaha; perhaps Crystal Palace (17/1) could do with a new winger?
