Liverpool & Chelsea Hold Talks With 29-Year-Old Star Over Summer Move

By on February 2, 2017

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Joe Hart is linked with Liverpool and Chelsea…

It looks like Chelsea and Liverpool are going head-to-head over the signing of Joe Hart this summer with reports suggesting both clubs have held talks with the out-of-favour Manchester City goalkeeper.

Hart developed in to one of the best keepers in Europe during his ten-year stay at City and helped the club win two Premier League titles and three domestic cups following his move from Shrewsbury Town in 2006.

However, the 29-year-old found himself frozen out following the arrival of Pep Guardiola last summer and Hart was forced to join Torino on a season-long loan deal in order to guarantee himself regular first team football.

Despite his replacement – Claudio Bravo – struggling to adapt to life in England, Hart is unlikely to be given another chance at the Etihad and will instead seek a permanent move away from the club this summer.

And it looks as though the England No.1 is going to have plenty of options to rejuvenate his career in the Premier League as separate reports claim that both Liverpool and Chelsea have held talks with the stopper.

The Mirror are citing a report from TuttoSport that claim Liverpool have expressed their interest after holding talks with City officials on deadline day over a possible deal to sign Hart at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp has been urged to sign an established No.1 with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both failing to impress in the first team this season and I’m sure the Anfield faithful would be delighted if they could snap up a player of Hart’s quality.

However, it looks like Liverpool will face stiff competition for his signature as the Express are citing reports from Calciomercato that suggest Chelsea have also held talks with Hart about a move to Stamford Bridge.

The newspaper says that Blues officials met with the player in Milan on deadline day to discuss a possible deal amid doubts over the long-term future of Thibaut Courtois – who’s been strongly linked with Real Madrid.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but Hart would be an excellent signing for either Liverpool or Chelsea if they were able to get a deal agreed.

The England international has been back to his best in Italy this season and is once again proving he’s a top class keeper – although it remains to be seen whether City would be willing to do business with their domestic rivals this summer.
