Arsenal Ready To Battle Liverpool Over Signing Of £15m International
The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, Arsenal are linked with Joe Hart…..
Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign Manchester City’s £15m-rated goalkeeper Joe Hart as Arsene Wenger looks to bring in a new No.1 this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Question marks have been asked over Petr Cech’s form this season with some suggesting that the 34-year-old’s best years are behind him following some disappointing performances.
The Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are now planning to bring in a new first choice goalkeeper this summer with Cech expected to be demoted to No.2 if he chooses to remain at the Emirates.
And it looks as though the Gunners are now heading for a transfer tussle with rivals Liverpool as the newspaper says Arsene Wenger has identified Hart as a prime target.
Hart is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Torino after being forced to leave Manchester City last summer in search of regular first team football.
The England international isn’t expected to be given another chance by boss Pep Guardiola so a permanent move is almost a certainty this summer and it looks as though Hart will have at least two top Premier League clubs vying for his signature.
The Daily Mail state that City are open to offers for the £130,000-a-week stopper but will demand a fee of around £15m should the likes of Arsenal or Liverpool come calling.
Hart was once regarded as one of the best keepers in Europe so we all know he has the potential to be a top class signing if he can get back to his previous best form.
A move to Arsenal would surely appeal to the 29-year-old as it would offer him the opportunity to resurrect his career in the Premier League and play for one of the countries biggest clubs.
However, Liverpool will provide stiff competition for the Gunners as Jurgen Klopp is also expected to be in the market for a new No.1 this summer and Hart is also on his radar.
The Reds boss has been urged to sign a new keeper with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius both failing to impress in the first team this season and I’m sure the Anfield faithful would be delighted if they could snap up a player of Hart’s quality.
We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but I think Hart would be an excellent signing for either Arsenal or Liverpool if either of the duo are able to get a deal agreed with City.
