Manchester United eased in to the last-16 of the Europa League after beating Saint-Etienne 1-0 in the second leg of their last-32 tie this evening.

United took a commanding 3-0 lead to France after a Zlatan Ibrahimovic hat-trick put them in control of the tie and any hopes of a Saint-Etienne comeback were quickly extinguished.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead in just the 16th minute when Henrikh Mkhitaryan flicked home a superb Juan Mata cross to make it 4-0 on aggregate.

The Armenian international was soon limping off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury before Micheal Carrick was also replaced meaning both players are now doubts for Sunday’s EFL Cup final.

To make matters worse, centre-back Eric Bailly was dismissed for two bookings in the second half so he’ll miss the first leg of United’s last-16 tie.

However, Jose Mourinho should still be satisfied as his side eased in to the next phase with a comfortable 4-0 aggregate win over the French outfit.
