Arsenal & Man City To Make Fresh Moves For £50m-Rated Hitman

Arsenal and Manchester City will make fresh attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer but will face stiff competition for the £50m-rated Monaco hitman

The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, the race for Kylian Mbappe hots up…

Arsenal and Manchester City will make fresh attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer but will face stiff competition for the £50m-rated Monaco hitman, according to the Independent.

Mbappe progressed through Monaco’s youth ranks having joined the club in 2013 and broke in to the first team set-up two years later when he was just 16-years-old.

The French Under-19 international attracted interest from the Premier League with the Independent reporting that both Arsenal and Manchester City tried to sign him last summer.

The newspaper claims that City were prepared to pay as much as £40m for the 18-year-old while Gunners boss Arsene Wenger recently admitted he was keen to lure the youngster to the Emirates after comparing him to Thierry Henry.

Mbappe decided to stay snub the English giants and continue his development at Monaco and the teenager has now emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football.

A superb performance was capped by a wonderful goal during Monaco’s Champions League thriller with City on Tuesday night, taking Mbappe’s total to 12 goals in his 25 appearances so far this season while he’s also chipped in with 8 assists.

The Independent claim that Arsenal and City will both make fresh attempts to sign the striker this summer but Monaco are expected to demand a fee in the region of £50m plus additional add ons as they feel Mbappe is worth more than what they got for Anthony Martial.

It means Arsenal and City will need to break their transfer records to land the talented Frenchman but that isn’t the only potential stumbling block as the newspaper report indicates that Barcelona, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have now joined the chase for Mbappe’s signature.

It’s certainly going to be interesting to see how things develop over the coming months and Mbappe looks likely to be one of the most sought after players of the summer window.

If Wenger stays at Arsenal, he might feel confident of winning the race due to his excellent record of developing players like Henry plus his close connections with Monaco will work in his favour.

However, the Gunners probably can’t compete with the money the likes of City or Madrid could offer so they will still face a tough battle to sign the highly-rated striker.
