Tottenham will be looking to cement their position in the top four of the Premier League table when they take on Everton at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of the game, Mauricio Pochettino has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this afternoon and he’s given reporters a team news and injury update.

The Spurs boss gave the latest on the fitness of Danny Rose and while the full-back is said to be progressing well in his recovery from a knee injury he’s still a number of weeks away from making his comeback.

Rose suffered a knee injury during Tottenham’s 0-0 draw with Sunderland on January 31st and has already missed the last six games in all competitions but it appears the 26-year-old is still some way from returning to action.

Pochettino also gave an update on Erik Lamela and says the attacker is continuing to work on his fitness in training this week but there is still no time-scale over his return to the first team.

Lamela has been out since suffering a hip injury in late October and has struggled to overcome the niggling problem over the past four months so Pochettino is giving him plenty of time to get back to full fitness.

Spurs also have doubts over three of their key men against Everton this weekend with Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen all facing late fitness tests.

Kane picked up a knock after scoring a hat-trick during Tottenham’s 4-0 victory over Stoke City last weekend and the striker is now a slight doubt to face the Toffees on Sunday.

Vertonghen aggravated an ankle injury last week while Alderweireld was also forced off against the Potters after picking up a groin problem midway through the second half.

Pochettino says the trio are all progressing well and will have late fitness tests after Saturday’s final training session before their availability to face Everton will be known.
