The January transfer window is now closed but we can still look at deals that failed to get across the line and those being lined-up for the summer. Today, the latest on Mesut Ozil’s future….

Arsenal have offered Mesut Ozil a huge new contract worth a whopping £280,000-a-week but there are growing fears he’ll follow Alexis Sanchez out the door this summer, according to the Mirror.

Ozil is approaching the final year of his current contract at the Emirates Stadium and his future is in serious doubt with the club struggling to agree terms over a new deal.

The German international is already our highest earner on £140,000-a-week basic but reports in recent months suggest the playmaker has been demanding a huge pay-rise to stay at the club.

It looks like Arsenal are doing everything they can to try and persuade Ozil to sign a new deal as the Mirror claim that we’ve now offered him a new deal worth a whopping £280,000-a-week.

That would smash our wage structure and make Ozil the highest paid player in the clubs history but even that might not be enough to tempt the 28-year-old in to signing on the dotted line.

That’s because the newspaper states that Ozil is yet to respond to our latest offer as he knows he can earn more elsewhere and there is a growing fear within the club that he’ll leave this summer.

That means we face losing arguably our best two players as Alexis Sanchez is also being strongly tipped to depart after becoming increasingly frustrated at the club.

The Chilean international is also approaching the final year of his contract and was dropped for last weekend’s defeat at Liverpool amid reports of a bust-up on the training ground.

With Arsene Wenger’s future yet to be decided and a number of other players set to enter the final year of their contracts, it’s gearing up to be a pivotal summer at the Emirates.
