Mesut Ozil has offered an update on his contract situation at Arsenal and confirmed that Arsene Wenger’s future won’t play a role in his decision, according to the Mirror.

Ozil is approaching the final year of his contract at Arsenal and so far we’ve been unable to agree terms over an extension despite holding lengthy discussions with his representatives.

It’s led to speculation the German international could be on the move this summer with the newspaper suggesting that Bayern Munich are keen to lure Ozil back to the Bundesliga this summer.

The Mirror claim that we’ve now offered the 28-year-old a new deal worth £280,000-a-week including bonuses, which if accepted would make Ozil the highest paid player in the clubs history.

However, while Ozil has confirmed talks have been held with Arsenal, the playmaker is yet to commit his future to the club and he insists his only focus is on finishing the current campaign.

Previous reports suggested that Ozil was waiting to see if Wenger signed a new contract before agreeing terms over his over extension, but Mesut has now dismissed that myth by confirming that his future does not depend on the Frenchman.

Ozil is quoted by the Mirror as telling Bild:

“Everything is open. We had talks with Arsenal. Right now I concentrate on the current season,”

“Arsene Wenger was one of the main reasons I joined Arsenal. But I know that sometimes things go very fast in football and that you can never plan something.

“This is why it would be wrong to say that my future depends on my coach.”

“You are never satisfied as a sportsman. You need the motivation.

“I want to win the Champions League one day, preferably with Arsenal. I have one more year on my contract here.”

It’s an interesting time for Ozil to distance his own future from Wenger’s considering the growing pressure on the manager to leave the club at the end of the season.

If Ozil wanted out, this would have been the perfect opportunity for him to align himself with Wenger and say how important it is that the boss remains at the club.

Then, if Wenger does leave, Ozil would have the perfect excuse to force a move, however, he’s chosen to distance himself from Arsene which to me suggests Mesut is keen to stay at Arsenal.

Ozil’s form has been questioned in recent weeks and the German has missed several games due to illness and I think the constant speculation surrounding his future has been affecting him.

However, he’s made two substitute appearances in our last two games so hopefully he can start to get his season back on track as there’s no doubt we’re a much better side with Ozil on top form.

Am an arsenal supporter from the back bone,my fear is that if our suppoters allowed Mr Arsene Wenger to leave beauty of Aresnal it ‘ll be had to get a great manager like Wenger. All the abuse’s & blame putting on Arsene, it is unfair that I felt greatly, Is the board to blame of all this mess the club is facing. Mr Wenger, has try very well for this club working under low budget to raise the image of arsenal, I give wenger massive respect. Majority of our support forget the good days. We can see day in day out wenger with the press he so professional to answer his question very calm with his opinion, he love this club from the beat, it the board coursing all this issue, changes has to take over with the directors an owners not Wenger to leave.

Arsenal main issueses is the board of directors, wenger, is coving alot of blames for the sack of the board which I felt it unfair for Arsene Wenger. Wenger has show alot of loyalty and preference for this club, turning big name players etc, etc. Arsenal supporters ‘re making big mistake of there life, who ‘ll replace Wenger? Who is the best manager out their to bring this beatiful club if wenger leave, am sorry, let the directors release money to spend on new players, if this great club mean business to achive honours. ARSENE WENGER,is our best man to take this club in a higher level, the pressure is too much from the media on Wenger, I field Wenger need respect for example, How long it take MAN UTD & CHRLSEA, MAN CITY to win their first triumphs. The board of diectors needs to bring success so that the good old days’ll be remembered, Alexis Sanchez arsenal need to keep him at the club, pay him the best wages, his a hard working skillful player, we should be clever in the market to get the best situatable available players for next season, so that arsenal can be able to compitic with the big names like PSG,BARCELONA, BAYERN MUNICH etc, etc.
