Arsenal Handed Double Injury Boost Ahead Of WBA Clash But Midfielder A Doubt

Arsenal have been handed a double injury boost ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Bromwich Albion but a midfielder could miss out.

Arsenal have been handed a double injury boost ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Bromwich Albion with Mohamed Elneny and Danny Welbeck available for the game, according to the Evening Standard.

Elneny has been on the sidelines for almost a month having suffered an ankle injury during our FA Cup victory at Sutton United last month.

The Egyptian international has missed our last three matches in all competitions including last weekend’s FA Cup quarter final win over Lincoln City and recent defeats to Bayern Munich and Liverpool.

However, the Evening Standard claim Elneny is now back in full training and should be in contention to make his comeback against West Brom on Saturday afternoon.

In a double boost, the newspaper says that Welbeck is also expected to be back in the squad for the trip to the Hawthorns after recovering from sickness that’s kept him out of the last two games.

Welbeck was named in the starting eleven to face Bayern last week but was forced to pull out after feeling unwell during the warm-up and he then missed Saturday’s win over Lincoln.

The 26-year-old has now overcome his illness and could start up front against the Baggies with Olivier Giroud dropping out after starting during the 5-0 FA Cup win at the weekend.

However, there isn’t such positive news on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as the midfielder is a doubt for Saturday’s game after picking up a tight hamstring last weekend.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was forced off midway through the first half against Lincoln and now the Evening Standard say the 23-year-old could miss Saturday clash at WBA.

That would be a blow as The Ox has been one of our best performers in recent weeks after being deployed as a central midfielder so hopefully he won’t be out for too long.

We head to the Hawthorns of Saturday sitting five points outside the top four but we do have two games in hand on Liverpool so hopefully we can close the gap with a win over Tony Pulis’s side ahead of the Merseysiders trip to Man City.
