Arsenal Prepare Moves For Trio As Wenger Plots £100m Summer Overhaul

Arsenal have a list of transfer targets lined-up as Arsene Wenger prepares to stay at the Emirates and embark upon a £100m overhaul to rejuvenate his squad

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are planning a summer overhaul….

Arsenal have a list of transfer targets lined-up as Arsene Wenger prepares to stay at the Emirates and embark upon a £100m summer overhaul to rejuvenate his flagging squad, according to the Telegraph.

Despite a growing number of fans calling for him to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season, the newspaper says that Wenger is determined to stay at Arsenal and prove his doubters wrong.

There has been much speculation over whether Wenger will sign a new deal and although any final decision will be made mutually with the board, the boss is already pressing ahead with his summer transfer plans.

With Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez expected to leave after failing to agree terms over new deals and a number of other squad players approaching the final year of their contracts, it’s gearing up to be a pivotal summer at the Emirates.

The Telegraph claim that Wenger will be handed at least £100m to spend on overhauling his squad and is ready to renew his interest in two long-term targets; Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe.

Lacazette has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and we reportedly had a formal offer rejected by Lyon last summer before eventually signing Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna.

However, with Sanchez now tipped to leave we desperately need to bring in a top class striker and it appears Wenger is ready to go back in for Lacazette after watching him score 29 goals in 35 games for Lyon so far this season.

The boss recently confirmed that he tried to sign Mbappe last summer but was knocked back by Monaco and the teenager has emerged as one of the hottest properties in world football this campaign.

The 18-year-old has notched 19 goals and provided a further 11 assists in 32 appearances already this season so understandably we’ll face some stiff competition for his signature and Monaco will no doubt demand a huge fee to cash-in on the promising hitman.

I’d love to see either Lacazette or Mbappe join Arsenal this summer but we may need to go for both if Perez joins Sanchez and Ozil in heading for the Emirates exit door at the end of the season.

Midfield is another area of concern for Wenger and the Telegraph claim that with the future’s of Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in serious doubt, the boss is eyeing a move for Everton’s Ross Barkley.

The 23-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract at Goodison Park and has yet to agree terms over an extension, and the fact he can play in central midfield or in the No.10 role is sure to appeal to Wenger.
