Arsenal, Chelsea & Tottenham Target Keen On London Move

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ross Barkley with the Everton midfielder open to the idea of moving to London

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are handed a boost in their pursuit of Ross Barkley…

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Ross Barkley with the Everton midfielder keen on the idea of moving to London this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Barkley has been at Everton his entire career having come through the clubs youth academy and emerged as one of Britain’s hottest young talents after breaking in to the first team in 2012.

The midfielder has established himself as a first team regular and while he struggled last season, the 23-year-old has regained his best form under Ronald Koeman this campaign to help the Toffees maintain their push for European qualification.

However, Barkley’s future at Goodison Park is in serious doubt as he’s approaching the final year of his contract and Koeman has suggested the club will have no choice but to cash-in if he doesn’t sign an extension before the summer.

The uncertainty has alerted a number of top Premier League clubs with the Mirror claiming that Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all keen to snap up the midfielder at the end of the season.

The trio have now been handed a major boost as the newspaper is citing a report from the Evening Standard that states Barkley is open to the idea of moving to London this summer.

Obviously there is still a long way to go before the England international needs to start packing his bags for the capital but I think Barkley would be an excellent addition for any of the London giants being linked with his signature.

Arsenal have endured midfield issues all season with Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey suffering injury problems while the futures of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil are in doubt as they approach the final years of their contracts.

Despite on-going doubts over his own future at the Emirates, Arsene Wenger is pressing ahead with transfer plans for the summer and the fact Barkley can play in central midfield or in the number 10 role will appeal to the Gunners boss.

However, Mauricio Pochettino is building a talented young group on the other side of north London and Barkley would fit in well at Tottenham if he was to opt for a move to White Hart Lane.

I also wouldn’t discount Chelsea as the champions-elect would be a difficult proposition to turn down if the Blues make their interest official and Antonio Conte needs to further strengthen his squad ahead of their return to the Champions League.
