Man Utd Steal March On Arsenal With £69m Bid For Ligue 1 Hitman

Manchester United have stolen a march on Arsenal after tabling an opening £69m offer for Monaco hitman Kylian Mbappe. See the details here

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd have made their move for Kylian Mbappe….

Manchester United have become the first team to submit a formal offer for Kylian Mbappe after testing Monaco’s resolve with a £69m bid for the sought-after striker, according to a report in the Sun.

Mbappe has emerged as on of the hottest properties in world football since bursting in to the Monaco first team this season having progressed through their youth ranks.

The 18-year-old continued his fine recent form with a brace during Monaco’s win over Caen last week to take his tally to 19 goals and 11 assists in his 32 appearances so far this season.

The French youngster’s impressive form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Mirror claiming earlier this week that Arsenal and Manchester United were both keen on luring him to England.

Arsene Wenger is seemingly ready to renew his interest having previously revealed that he tried to sign Mbappe last summer and has compared the striker to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

With Alexis Sanchez widely expected to leave the Emirates this summer after failing to agree terms over an extension, Arsenal will need to find a replacement and Mbappe would be an exciting addition.

However, it looks as though United have stolen a march on Arsenal as the Sun are citing a report from Spanish outlet Cadena COPE that claims the Red Devils have tabled an opening £69m offer for Mbappe.

The report indicates that Monaco are desperate to keep hold of the teenager and have already knocked back United’s offer with the Ligue 1 outfit understood to be demanding a staggering £129m for his signature.

That kind of deal would smash the world record £89m United paid for Paul Pogba last summer but even a club with the financial resources of the Manchester giants may struggle to justify spending £129m on a teenager who’s only had one breakthrough season.

We’ll have to see how things progress over the coming weeks and I’m sure interest in Mbappe is only going to intensify the closer we get to the summer but I think Monaco are going to have to set a more realistic asking price if we’re to see the talented Frenchman come to the Premier League this summer.
