Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Andre Silva….

Manchester United have joined the race to sign Porto’s £30m-rated forward Andre Silva as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his attack this summer, according to a report in the Mirror.

Silva joined Porto in 2011 and progressed through their youth ranks before breaking in to the first team set-up last season and he’s now emerged as one of the hottest young talents in Europe.

The 21-year-old is enjoying an excellent campaign having scored 20 goals as well as providing a further 8 assists in all competitions while he’s also established himself on the international stage with 5 goals in his 6 caps for Portugal.

Silva’s potential has alerted Arsenal with the Express reporting in late February that the Gunners were among a host of clubs showing a keen interest having sent scouts to keep a check on the striker on several occasions.

Arsene Wenger’s future at the Emirates remains in doubt but he’s still pressing ahead with his transfer plans and Silva could be being lined-up as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez should the Chilean leave this summer.

However, it looks as though Arsenal will face some stiff competition as the Mirror are citing a report coming from Calciomercato that claims Manchester United have joined the chase for Silva’s signature.

The Italian outlet suggests that Mourinho has identified the youngster as an alternative to number one target Antoine Griezmann in case they can’t prise the French international away from Atletico Madrid.

Mourinho is in the market for a top class striker with Wayne Rooney expected to leave after falling out-of-favour while Zlatan Ibrahimovic is yet to commit himself to a new contract and Silva is seemingly on his radar.

No doubt Porto will be keen to keep hold of the Portuguese hitman but the Mirror suggests they will be forced to cash-in if an offer of at least £50m is put on the table this summer.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but there is no doubt Silva is a huge talent who is destined to go to the very top of European football so I think he’d be an excellent addition for either Arsenal or United if they can win the race for his signature.
