£100m Hitman Wants Chelsea Move But Club Ready To Do Business With Man Utd

Romelu Lukaku has informed friends he wants to rejoin Chelsea this summer but Everton would prefer to do business with Manchester United

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on the future of Romelu Lukaku…

Romelu Lukaku has informed friends he wants to rejoin Chelsea this summer but Everton would prefer to do business with Manchester United, according to a report in the Telegraph.

Lukaku’s future is up in the air after he told Everton he doesn’t want to sign a new contract with the striker desperate to play for a team competing in the Champions League.

The Belgian international notched his 24th goal of the season last weekend so understandably he’s attracting plenty of interest with Chelsea and United two of the big-name clubs reportedly vying for his signature.

The Telegraph claim today that Lukaku has told close friends that he wants to rejoin Chelsea as he feels he has unfinished business at the club following an unsuccessful stint at Stamford Bridge between 2011-2014.

Antonio Conte is in the market for at least one top class striker this summer and it seems Lukaku is being lined-up as a potential replacement for Diego Costa – who’s being tipped to leave at the end of the season amid interest from China.

The newspaper says that Everton are aware of Lukaku’s desire to move to Chelsea but the Toffees hierarchy would prefer to do business with United due to strained relations with the west Londoners.

The two clubs fell out over Chelsea’s failed attempt to sign John Stones in 2015 and it seems the Merseysiders haven’t forgiven the champions-elect for their behaviour during negotiations, which could now work in United’s favour.

Jose Mourinho is also expected to sign a new front-man this summer and Lukaku is on the Portuguese coaches radar along with Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.

Everton’s preference to do business with United is obviously a huge advantage to the Red Devils but Lukaku’s desire to rejoin Chelsea complicates things and the report says he has concerns about playing under Mourinho again after the ‘Special One’ froze him out during their time together at Chelsea.

While Everton are still hopeful of persuading Lukaku to stay at Goodsion, the Telegraph claim they will sell if the striker hands in a transfer request but they will demand a record £100m for his signature.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea or United will be willing to pay that kind of money but it looks like Lukaku is going to be one of this summers big transfer sagas and I personally think he’ll end up moving back to Stamford Bridge.
