By on April 20, 2017

Marcus Rashford was the hero as Manchester United edged in to the semi-finals of the Europa League after scoring an extra-time winner to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory over Anderlecht.

United started well and opened the scoring when Henrikh Mkhitaryan fired home from 18 yards out following some good work from Paul Pogba and Rashford in the 10th minute.

The visitors levelled things up at 1-1 on the night and 2-2 on aggregate when Sofiane Hanni scrambled home in the 32nd minute after an initial effort had come back off the bar.

United dominated the second half but couldn’t find a winner inside the ninety minutes so it went to extra time and Rashford scored what proved to be the winner with a superb effort following a Marouane Fellaini knock down in the 107th minute.

Anderlecht couldn’t find another goal so United book their place in the semi-finals thanks to a 3-2 aggregate victory.
