Man Utd Eye £40m Chelsea Target As Mourinho Plots Big-Money Triple Swoop

Manchester United are ready to move for £40m-rated Chelsea target Alvaro Morata as Jose Mourinho plots a big-money triple swoop this summer

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are eyeing Alvaro Morata…

Manchester United are ready to move for £40m-rated Chelsea target Alvaro Morata as Jose Mourinho plots a big-money triple swoop this summer, according to the Telegraph.

Mourinho knows he needs to strengthen his attacking options as a lack of goals has been a major issue for United this season and they have now lost top-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic to a serious knee injury.

The Swedish international is out-of-contract in June and with his career hanging in the balance, it’s highly unlikely the 35-year-old will extend his stay at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season.

With Wayne Rooney also tipped to leave Old Trafford after falling out-of-favour, Mourinho is expected to be in the market for two new strikers and it seems he’s identified the men he wants.

The Telegraph claim that United are ready to move for Real Madrid hitman Alvaro Morata as Mourinho wants the Spaniard to form a new-look attack alongside prime target Antoine Griezmann next season.

United have long been linked with Griezmann and the newspaper says they will formalise their interest in the Atletico Madrid hitman by offering him a lucrative contract worth £17m-per-season before turning their attention to Morata.

The Spanish international has endured a difficult campaign back at the Bernabeu having only made 16 starts but he’s still proven himself to be an excellent front-man after netting an impressive 18 goals so far despite his lack of regular game time.

The 24-year-old has also been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks and the newspaper says that the striker has told friends he think a move to Stamford Bridge could be on the cards, but United’s interest could change all that.

Chelsea have also been heavily linked with Romelu Lukaku so if they mange to get a deal agreed with Everton for the Belgian international, then it would pave the way for United to go for Morata.

The Telegraph say that Morata is valued at around £40m and United hope to use Madrid’s interest in David De Gea to secure a deal for the striker with Mourinho ready to cash-in on his No.1 this summer.

De Gea has long been linked with a move back to Spain and it seems this year could be the time it finally happens as the report indicates that Mourinho has already identified Jan Oblak as De Gea’s replacement.

The Slovenian international has been in superb form for Atletico Madrid so it’s no surprise that Mourinho is keen and the Telegraph say Oblak’s representatives have already flown to England to hold talks with United over a potential move.

So it looks like Mourinho is gearing up for a busy summer and it could be Ibrahimovic/Rooney/De Gea OUT, Griezmann/Morata/Oblak IN at Old Trafford if the ‘Special One’ gets his way.
