Liverpool will be looking to tighten their grip on the top four with a win when they take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds stuttered after drawing with Southampton at Anfield last weekend and it left the door open for Arsenal who took full advantage with a win over Southampton in midweek.

Man City’s win over Leicester today has seen Liverpool drop to fourth and the Gunners are now just one point behind in fifth after beating Stoke this evening so the pressure is firmly on Jurgen Klopp’s men to get a result in the capital tomorrow.

The good news for Liverpool is that West Ham have very little left to play for as they sit comfortably in 12th position in the table and secured their top flight status for another year with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham last week.

Team News

Liverpool will hand a late fitness test to Roberto Firmino as the Brazilian international has been nursing a muscle problem this week. Klopp has carefully managed Firmino’s playing time in recent weeks so I don’t think he’ll be rushed back.

However, Daniel Sturridge is considered fully fit after taking his time recovering from a niggling hip injury so we could see him come in to the attack.

Adam Lallana is also pushing for a recall after fully recovering from a thigh injury and he could replace Lucas Leiva in midfield as the Brazilian is carrying a knock.

West Ham will be without Andy Carroll as he’s failed to recover from a groin injury while Mark Noble is also missing due to an abdominal problem and Cheikhou Kouyate has undergone surgery on a wrist injury.

Predicted Score

West Ham 1-2 Liverpool: The Reds have lost their last two visits to West Ham but Klopp’s men are on a good run of form away from home having won their last three matches on the road. No doubt the Hammers will put up a good fight but I fancy Liverpool to edge it and take control of the top four.
