Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea have made their move for Marco Verratti…

Chelsea have tabled a formal £55m offer for Marco Verratti as Antonio Conte tries to lure the midfielder away from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, according to The Sun.

Conte is gearing-up for a busy summer as he needs to further strengthen his squad to ensure it’s capable of defending the Premier League title and compete in the Champions League next season.

A new central midfielder appears to be on the agenda as The Sun claims that Conte has identified Verratti as the man to provide his team with more creativity in the middle of the park.

The newspaper states that PSG are willing to cash-in on the 24-year-old and that Chelsea have already tested their resolve by putting a formal £55m offer on the table.

The Italian international would be a superb addition as he’s been outstanding since joining PSG from Pescara in 2012 and has helped the French giants win four Ligue 1 titles as well as six other domestic trophies.

The talented playmaker would compliment N’Golo Kante perfectly if he was to move to west London and would provide Conte with real depth in the middle of the park alongside Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas.

However, it looks as though the Blues have a battle on their hands to try and lure Verratti to Stamford Bridge as The Sun suggest the player has told PSG to reject Chelsea’s offer as he wants to stay in Paris.

The Italian midfielder only signed a new five-year deal in January so it’s difficult to see how Chelsea will be able to prise him away from the Parc des Princes any time soon.

Obviously things can change quickly in football and Verratti may change his mind if Chelsea put a tempting contract offer on the table but for now it looks like he’s set to remain at PSG for the foreseeable future.
