West Ham & Newcastle Plot Summer Swoop For £33m Chelsea Hero

West Ham and Newcastle have joined the chase to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Managers are now making plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the race hots-up to sign Michy Batshuayi….

West Ham and Newcastle have joined the chase to sign Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi this summer, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Batshuayi caught the attention after scoring 23 goals for Marseille during the 2015/16 campaign and his potential earned him a £33m move to Stamford Bridge last summer.

The Belgian international struggled to make establish himself during his debut season in England with the 23-year-old making just 1 Premier League start during the entire campaign.

However, despite Diego Costa being Antonio Conte’s first choice striker, Batshuayi has still impressed whenever given the chance and has scored 11 goals in his 28 appearances so far.

The young forward is being tipped to leave Chelsea in search of regular action despite making himself a hero among the supporters after scoring the winning goal at West Brom which sealed the Premier League title.

It looks like clubs are now queuing up to sign Batshuayi as the Daily Star are citing Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur as claiming that West Ham and Newcastle have joined Monaco in the race to sign the striker this summer.

However, Terreur goes on to suggest that Chelsea are yet to make a final decision over whether to let Batshuayi leave over the coming weeks. He’s quoted as saying on Twitter by the Daily Star:

“Monaco are one of the teams considering Michy Batshuayi. Also West Ham and Newcastle have him on the radar. #cfc #whufc #nufc.

“Chelsea are currently undecided over his future. No decision has been taken as yet.”

Newcastle are gearing-up for a busy summer after securing promotion back to the top flight and Batshuayi would be a superb signing if Rafa Benitez could pull it off.

West Ham are also understood to be in the market for a new goalscorer as Slaven Bilic looks to rebuild following a disappointing campaign and it appears he’s ready to raid their London rivals.

I think both Newcastle and West Ham would be good options for Batshuayi if he ends up leaving Chelsea and the young striker may push for a move as he needs regular football if he’s to force his way in to the Belgian squad for next summers World Cup finals.
