Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs battling-it-out to sign Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham are linked with Djibril Sidibe….

Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs battling-it-out to sign Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Sidibe made his name during a four year spell at Lille but has really developed in to one of the most highly-rated full-backs in Europe since joining Monaco last summer.

The 24-year-old was outstanding down the right side during his 43 appearances in all competitions last season to help Leonardo Jardim’s side win the Ligue 1 title and reach the last four of the Champions League.

Sidibe has also become a regular in the French national team and it seems his form has attracted interest from the Premier League with the Express citing a report coming from L’Equipe that claims Arsenal and Tottenham are battling over his signature.

The French-based newspaper says Monaco are determined to keep hold of the full-back but that isn’t stopping the north London duo from pressing ahead with their attempts to lure him to England.

Arsene Wenger is set to oversee a squad overhaul at the Emirates after signing a new contract and with Carl Jenkinson and Mathieu Debuchy expected to leave this summer, it looks as though a new right-back is on the agenda.

Mauricio Pochettino tottenham

Hector Bellerin has established himself at Arsenal but rumours linking him with a return to Barcelona refuse to go away so Wenger could even be eyeing Sidibe as his new first choice right-back if Bellerin is lured to Spain.

However, the Gunners could face stiff competition from Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be in the market for a new right-back with Kyle Walker being tipped to leave after falling out with the Tottenham boss.

Walker is being linked with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City so Pochettino is seemingly looking at Sidibe as a replacement for the England international this summer.

It’s going to be an interesting battle between two of England’s most powerful clubs but Spurs could see themselves as favourites to sign Sidibe if he wants to come to the Premier League as they are able to offer him Champions League football.
