Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Victor Lindelof….

Manchester United are set to sign Victor Lindelof after agreeing a deal worth £35m following talks with Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Jose Mourinho is gearing-up for a bust summer in the transfer market as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts next season and defence is a particular area of concern.

United are expected to bring in a dominant centre-back over the coming months and it appears they have recently reignited their interest in long-term target Lindelof.

The Swedish international was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford earlier in the year before seemingly ending speculation over his future by signing a new contract in March.

However, that hasn’t put United off as Goal claim that Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira flew-in to the UK this week to hold discussions with the Manchester giants about a deal for Lindelof and team mate Nelson Semedo.

It seems those talks have gone well as the Daily Mail are citing a report from Portuguese outlet Record that claims United have now agreed terms over a £35m deal to sign the defender this summer.

The newspaper says United will pay £30m up front with a further £5m coming in performance-based add ons so it looks as though Mourinho is set to wrap-up his first major signing of the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese coach is on the look-out for a long-term partner for Eric Bailly and Lindelof’s arrival is likely to cast further doubt over the future of Chris Smalling at Old Trafford.

Lindelof joined Benfica’s youth system in 2012 and has developed in to one of the most highly-rated young defenders in Europe since breaking in to their first team so he should be considered as an exciting addition to the United squad if this deal does go through.
