Striker Keen On Move As Man Utd Make Fresh £60m Bid To Sign Chelsea Target

Man Utd are in talks with Real Madrid over the signing of Alvaro Morata and have made it clear they are willing to pay £60m to sign the Chelsea striker target

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd continue their pursuit of Alvaro Morata…

Manchester United are locked in talks with Real Madrid over the signing of Alvaro Morata and have made it clear they are willing to pay £60m to sign the Chelsea striker target this summer, according to the Mirror.

Morata has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu this summer after struggling to establish himself as a first team regular having re-joined Madrid from Juventus last year.

The 24-year-old managed to start just 16 games in all competitions last season with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Despite his lack of regular action, Morata still bagged himself 20 goals to help Madrid win a sensational La Liga and Champions League double so understandably he’s attracting plenty of interest.

The Telegraph reported recently that Man Utd were ready to go head-to-head with Chelsea over Morata’s signature after Jose Mourinho had turned his attention to the Spanish international having missed out on Antoine Griezmann.

Antonio Conte is in the market for a new striker after telling Diego Costa he has no future at the club and Morata is one of several top class frontmen to be linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.

However, it looks like United have stolen a march on their rivals as Sky Sports News reported earlier this week that the Red Devils had tabled an opening offer worth £52.4m for Morata’s services.

The bid was rejected by Madrid but the Mirror claim United remain in negotiations and have informed the La Liga giants they aren’t willing to go higher than £60m to sign the talented striker.

The newspaper says Madrid are holding out for a fee nearer £78m but United are understood to be putting pressure on the Champions League holders to push through a deal over the coming days.

With a World Cup coming up next year, Morata is going to need regular first team football to cement his position in the Spain squad and the Mirror say he’s keen on a move to Old Trafford.

However, we’ll have to wait and see whether United are able to broker a deal with Madrid or if Chelsea are going to enter the bidding to make life even more difficult for Mourinho’s men.

Romelu Lukaku is being tipped to move back to Stamford Bridge but with Costa now seemingly heading for the exit door Conte may need to sign two strikers this summer so a move for Morata could also be on the cards.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out over the coming weeks but I think Morata would be a superb addition for either United or Chelsea as he’s got the potential to be a top class striker if given a chance.
