Tottenham Ready To Hijack Arsenal’s Move After Opening Talks With £35m Midfielder

Tottenham are trying to hijack Arsenal’s attempts to sign Jean Michael Seri after holding talks with the £35m-rated Nice midfielder about a move this summer

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Tottenham have made their move to sign Jean Michael Seri….

Tottenham are trying to hijack Arsenal’s attempts to sign Jean Michael Seri after holding talks with the £35m-rated Nice midfielder about a move this summer, according to a report in the Metro.

Seri has developed in to one of the most highly-rated central midfielders in French football since joining Nice from Portuguese outfit Pacos de Ferreira in the summer of 2015.

The 25-year-old has just come off the back of a superb campaign that saw him score seven goals and provide a further nine assists to help Nice finish third in the Ligue 1 table.

Seri’s performances have caught the eye of Arsene Wenger with the Metro claiming that the Arsenal boss held talks with Nice officials in the South of France earlier this month over a deal to sign the dynamic midfielder.

Wenger is looking to strengthen his squad after missing out on the top four and midfield is an area of concern due to Santi Cazorla’s on-going injury problems while Jack Wilshere’s future at the Emirates is also in doubt.

However, Arsenal’s hopes of landing Seri have received a blow as the Metro are citing report coming from French outlet RMC that claims Spurs have now opened negotiations with the players camp about a move to White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino has seemingly made the Ivory Coast international a prime target as he looks to strengthen the Spurs squad following their second-placed finish and Seri would provide competition to the likes of Moussa Dembele.

The newspaper says Spurs are hoping the lure of playing in the Champions League will persuade Seri to snub Arsenal while they have also made contact with Nice to discuss a potential deal.

However, it looks like Arsenal and Spurs will need to dig deep as the Metro say Nice aren’t ready to sell Seri on the cheap and are demanding the full value of his £35m release clause is paid.
