Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, more on Liverpool’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah

Liverpool remain hopeful of getting a deal agreed to sign Mohamed Salah and are ready to break their transfer record to sign the AS Roma attacker this summer, according to the Telegraph.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to strengthen his attacking options ahead of Liverpool’s return to the Champions League and Salah has emerged as a prime target in recent weeks.

It was reported by ESPN at the start of the month that Liverpool remained in talks with Roma after seeing their opening £28m offer rejected while the Telegraph then claimed that Salah had agreed terms worth £90,000-a-week as the two clubs continued to negotiate a deal.

Roma sporting director Monchi has confirmed there is an offer on the table for Salah from an English club but insisted that the Italians won’t be forced in to selling their best players on the cheap.

Monchi is quoted by the Telegraph as saying:

“For Salah there is an offer from an English club but the price will be set by Roma, not the buyers,”

“As I’ve said before, Roma is not a supermarket. Roma is a team that will represent Italy in Europe.

“We came second in Serie A and our idea is to keep as good a team as possible. At the same time no club exists that does not sell players.”

The Telegraph claim that Liverpool are now ready to break their transfer record in order to sign Salah with Roma demanding a fee in excess of £35m for the attacker.

Liverpool’s current record buy stands at £35m for Andy Carroll but the newspaper says this figure will be broken to land Salah with Liverpool hopeful a deal will eventually be agreed.

Klopp is keen to have his new additions in place when the players return to pre-season training in early July so we should expect to see movement in negotiations over the coming weeks.

The Telegraph claim that Salah is determined to join Liverpool this summer so it seems like it’s just a matter of time before the Egyptian international makes his move to Anfield.

Liverpool were initially linked with the 24-year-old before he joined Chelsea in 2014 and have renewed their interest after he rediscovered his best form in Italy following his failed stint at Stamford Bridge.

Salah has just come off the back of an excellent campaign that saw him score 19 goals and provide 15 assists in all competitions so he’ll certainly add some creativity to the Liverpool attack if he does end up making the move.

The Egyptian star is predominantly a right winger but he’s capable of playing anywhere across the attack so he’ll provide top class competition for the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane next season.
