Arsenal Steal March On Tottenham After Tabling £17.6m Bid For South American

Arsenal have stolen a march on Tottenham are submitting a £17.6m bid for Juan Cuadrado but will have to dig a little deeper if they want to get a deal agreed

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Tottenham are linked with Juan Cuadrado…

Arsenal have stolen a march on Tottenham are submitting an opening £17.6m bid for Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado but will have to dig a little deeper if they want to get a deal agreed, according to The Sun.

Arsene Wenger is expected to be extremely active in the transfer market this summer as he looks to strengthen his squad after missing out on the top four and the Gunners boss may need to rebuild his attack.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil are being tipped to leave the Emirates after failing to sign new contracts so Wenger is on the look out for potential replacements and it seems Cuadrado is on his radar.

The Sun claim Arsenal have tabled an opening £17.6m offer for the Colombian international but it’s already been knocked back by Juventus with the Serie A champions demanding closer to £30m.

Not only that, but the newspaper says Arsenal will face stiff competition for Cuadrado’s signature from Tottenham as Mauricio Pochettino is also eyeing a swoop for the South American winger this summer.

The Spurs boss is needing to bring in a right-sided attacker after Erik Lamela missed the majority of last season with a serious hip injury and it appears the north Londoners are eyeing Cuadrado as the man for the job.

The 29-year-old has some experience here in England having spent a short 6-month stint at Chelsea in 2015 before joining Juventus after struggling to hold down a regular place at Stamford Bridge.

Cuadrado has been a reasonable success back in Italy as he started 21 times to help Max Allegri’s men reclaim the title last season and was a second half substitute during the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

However, The Sun claim Juve are willing to cash-in on the winger this summer if £30m is put on the table as they look to raise funds for their move for Bayern Munich’s Douglas Costa.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming weeks but Cuadrado would be a solid signing for Arsenal or Tottenham if either of the London duo could get a deal agreed this summer.
