Manchester United are ready to submit a £70m offer for Andrea Belotti after opening talks with Torino over a deal to sign the striker this summer

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd are linked with Andrea Belotti…

Manchester United are ready to submit a £70m offer for Andrea Belotti after opening talks with Torino over a deal to sign the striker this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Belotti has emerged as one of the hottest strikers in Europe after scoring 28 goals in all competitions for a Torino side that finished down in ninth position in the Serie A table last season.

The 23-year-old has understandably caught the attention of several top clubs in recent months with United reportedly among those to have expressed their interest in signing the hitman this summer.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for at least one new striker after losing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has been widely reported to be the United bosses main target.

However, with Wayne Rooney also being tipped to leave Old Trafford, Mourinho may need to bring in further reinforcements and it looks as though United have now stepped-up their pursuit of Belotti.

The Express are citing a report from Sport Review that claims the Red Devils have opened talks with Torino and are now ready to table an opening offer worth £77million.

That figure still falls short of Belotti’s £88m buyout clause but it looks as though United are hoping the Italian outfit will be prepared to do a deal for the Italian international this summer.

However, that’s unlikely given Torino president Urbano Cairo insisted earlier this month that they would refuse to sell Belotti for anything below his buyout clause.

Cairo is quoted as saying by the Express:

“I care about Belotti and I’m keeping hold of him. He has a contract with Torino until 2021. I would only sell him for €100m [£88m], but even then he can refuse.

“The most important thing is what he wants, regardless of the release clause, and I believe he wants to stay. We are trying to build the best possible team at Torino.”

We’ll have to wait and see how the Italian’s respond if United do test their resolve with a £77m bid but I think Belotti would be an excellent signing if the Manchester giants could get a deal agreed.
