Arsenal Agree Personal Terms With Attacker As Wenger Looks To Secure 3rd Signing

Arsenal have agreed personal terms worth £90,000-a-week with Thomas Lemar but still need to settle on a fee with Monaco for the talented attacker

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal agree terms with Thomas Lemar….

Arsenal have agreed personal terms worth £90,000-a-week with Thomas Lemar but still need to settle on a fee with Monaco for the talented attacker, according to The Sun.

Arsene Wenger has already splashed out a club record fee to sign striker Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon while left-back Sead Kolasinac has arrived on a free transfer from Schalke.

However, the boss is looking to further strengthen his squad after finishing fifth in the Premier League last season and a new attacker now appears to be on his agenda.

Lemar has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates this summer after Wenger reportedly identified him as a key target after watching the 21-year-old score 14 goals and provide a further 17 assists to help fire Monaco to the title last season.

It seems we’ve now moved a step closer to securing his signature as The Sun claim we’ve agreed personal terms with the youngster worth around £90,000-a-week following talks with his representatives.

The newspaper says Lemar has informed Monaco he wants to join Arsenal, however, we still have a long way to go before agreeing a fee as they claim we’ve seen an improved offer worth £40m knocked back.

The Ligue 1 champions are determined not to see their squad dismantled this summer and want to keep hold of Lemar for at least another season so The Sun suggest they’ve slapped an £80m asking price on his head.

It’s understood Wenger is willing to push hard to sign the French international but there’s virtually no chance he’ll be prepared to pay that kind of money so Monaco will need to lower their valuation if a deal is to be agreed.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming days but Lemar would be a hugely exciting addition to the squad as he’s developed in to one of the most highly-rated attackers in Europe.

The Frenchman is predominantly played as a left-sided attacker so he could be viewed as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez amid on-going speculation the Chilean international is pushing to leave Arsenal this summer.
