Arsenal & Man Utd Ready To Table Offers For La Liga Midfielder

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Manchester United are linked with Marco Asensio…

Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Marco Asensio and are prepared to test Real Madrid’s resolve with big offers for the talented midfielder, according to a report in the Daily Star.

Asensio joined Madrid from Mallorca in 2014 and after spending his first two years out on loan the youngster enjoyed an impressive first season in the first team after scoring 10 goals in 38 appearances last year.

However, the 21-year-old struggled to hold down a regular place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting eleven as he made just 11 La Liga starts and it’s led to speculation the player may look for a move in search of first team football ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

It looks like Asensio could be offered the chance to try his luck here in England as the Daily Star are citing a report from Don Balon that claims Arsenal and Man Utd are interested in signing the attacking midfielder this summer.

The Spanish publication suggests Madrid president Florentino Perez wants to keep hold of Asensio but the Premier League duo are willing to test that resolve by submitting huge offers for the Spanish international.

Arsene Wenger is looking to further strengthen his squad after only signing Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette so far this summer and the Gunners boss is being tipped to bring in another attacker amid on-going doubts over the future of Alexis Sanchez.

Jose Mourinho is also growing frustrated at United’s lack of movement in the window after only completing two deals so far and the United manager is in the market for midfield reinforcements.

Asensio would be a sensational signing for either Arsenal or United if they were able to somehow lure him away from the Bernabeu as he’s one of the most exciting young talents in European football.

However, he’s under contract until 2022 so Madrid are under no pressure to sell and I don’t see Asensio forcing a move away from the Bernabeu so fully expect him to still be with the Champions League holders when the window closes.
