Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are closing-in on the signing of Thomas Lemar….

Arsenal are closing-in on a £45m deal to sign French attacker Thomas Lemar after finally making a breakthrough in negotiations with Monaco, according to The Sun.

Arsene Wenger has been chasing Lemar all summer after identifying the youngster as a prime target as the boss looks to further strengthen his squad after missing out on the top four last season.

Monaco have proven extremely difficult to deal with as the Ligue 1 champions have been desperately trying to keep their title-winning squad together following a number of exits but it seems they may now have admitted defeat.

The Sun claim that after slapping an £80m valuation on Lemar’s head earlier this month to try and deter Arsenal, Monaco are now willing to do business at a more realistic figure and a transfer could be wrapped-up by the end of the week.

The newspaper says Arsenal are now close to agreeing a £45m deal following a breakthrough in the negotiations and Lemar is already believed to have agreed personal terms over his move to the Emirates.

We’ll have to wait and see if other media outlets come out to confirm The Sun’s report but if true, then it looks like Lemar is set to become Arsenal’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac.

The French international enjoyed a superb campaign last season as he scored 14 goals and set-up a further 17 for his team mates to help Monaco win the Ligue 1 title and reach the last four of the Champions League.

The 21-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the attacking midfield positions so he’d give Wenger plenty of options in the final third, and I think he’d be an excellent addition to the squad if we do end up luring him to north London.
