Chelsea’s Swoop For £18m Winger Set To Scupper Man Utd’s Transfer Plans

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea’s move for Antonio Candreva could end Man Utd’s hopes of signing Ivan Perisic….

Inter Milan are ready to sell Antonio Candreva to Chelsea in an £18m deal which would end Manchester United’s hopes of signing Ivan Perisic this summer, according to a report in the Express.

Antonio Conte is looking to further strengthen his squad after signing four players so far and the Blues boss has identified Candreva as the man to offer Victor Moses competition in the right wing-back role.

The two men know each other well from their time together with the Italian national team and widespread reports in recent weeks have suggested Conte is keen to lure the 30-year-old to west London.

The Express are now citing a report from CalcioMercato that claims Inter are ready to do business over a deal for Candreva as long as Chelsea meet their £18m asking price.

The Italian publication suggests that new Inter boss Luciano Spalletti isn’t a huge fan of Candreva and is willing to cash-in this summer despite the attacker enjoying an impressive first season at the San Siro that saw him score 8 goals and provide 11 assists.

We’ll have to wait and see whether Chelsea will be prepared to meet Inter’s reported asking price but Candreva is likely to be open to the idea of heading to Stamford Bridge as the Blues can offer him Champions League football and no doubt a hefty pay rise.

Should Chelsea land Candreva, then it will be bad news for Manchester United as the report claims Inter would pull the plug on any potential deal for Ivan Perisic.

Jose Mourinho in the market for another attacker and Perisic has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks but United have struggled to agree a deal with the Serie A outfit.

It seems their failure to seal an agreement for the Croatian international could cost United as CalcioMercato suggest that any proposed deal would be dead in the water if Chelsea land Candreva first.

Let’s see how things progress but it seems Inter are only willing to let one of Perisic or Candreva leave this summer so it’s a race against time for United or Chelsea to agree a deal ahead of their rivals.
