Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are battling to sign Ross Barkley after Ronald Koeman confirmed the midfielder will leave Everton this summer

Managers are pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, the race for Ross Barkley hots-up….

Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are among the clubs battling to sign Ross Barkley after Ronald Koeman confirmed the midfielder will leave Everton this summer, according to the Daily Star.

Barkley has been with Everton his entire career having joined the clubs youth academy and progressed through the ranks to emerge as one of the most highly-rated young midfielder’s in the Premier League when he broke in to the first team in 2012.

The 23-year-old has been a firm fixture in the Everton starting eleven in recent years and enjoyed one of his most productive campaigns to date after scoring 6 goals and setting up another 9 for his team mates last season.

However, Barkley’s future at Goodison Park is in serious doubt as he’s in the final year of his contract and Koeman has confirmed the midfielder will be sold this summer after making it clear he won’t sign an extension.

Understandably, the England international is attracting plenty of interest and the Daily Star claim Arsenal, Tottenham and Man Utd are among six top-flight clubs to have registered their interest in signing the midfielder – the others being Man City, Chelsea and West Ham.

The newspaper says Tottenham are the current front-runners to sign Barkley and Everton are now expected to do a deal at around £30m after initially demanding £50m for the playmaker.

Mauricio Pochettino tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino has been extremely quiet in the market so far as he’s yet to sign a single player but the Spurs boss has his eye on Barkley and could land the youngster for a very reasonable price.

However, Arsene Wenger is also still looking to further strengthen his squad and the Arsenal boss could step-up his interest in Barkley amid on-going doubts over the future’s of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez.

Jose Mourinho is also hoping to bring in another attacker this summer as he looks to build a squad capable of competing on all fronts next season after qualifying for the Champions League and Barkley is also seemingly on United’s radar.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop but I think Barkley would be a superb signing if Spurs, Arsenal or United could snap him up for £30m as he has the potential to develop in to a top class midfielder.
