Chelsea Ready To Launch Move For French Star As Conte Eyes 5th Signing

Chelsea have set their sights on Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe as Antonio Conte looks to bring in his fifth signing of the summer window

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Djibril Sidibe…

Chelsea have set their sights on Monaco defender Djibril Sidibe as Antonio Conte looks to bring in his fifth signing of the summer window, according to a report in the Express.

Conte is desperate to further strengthen his squad despite signing four new players so far with Willy Caballero, Antonio Rudiger, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Alvaro Morata all arriving this summer.

The Blues have just 14 first team players available for selection ahead of the new season so it’s no wonder Conte has vented his frustration at the clubs lack of transfer activity in recent weeks.

The former Juventus coach is keen to add to his options in the left wing-back position as the Premier League champions need someone to compete with Marcos Alonso in that role this campaign.

And the Express are now citing a report from TransferMarketWeb that claims Chelsea have now set their sights on Sidibe after failing in their attempts to land number one target Alex Sandro.

Sidibe has become one of the most highly-rated full-backs in French football since joining Monaco from Lille last summer and he’s now also a regular in the French national team squad.

The 25-year-old was excellent during Monaco’s title-winning campaign last season but the report suggests that the Ligue 1 champions are willing to cash-in and sell to Chelsea as long as they can find a replacement.

It looks like the French outfit are already working on securing another left-back as the Express say they are in talks to try and sign Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi.

If they can agree a deal for the 23-year-old then it will pave the way for Sidibe to join Chelsea and I think he’d be a superb addition if the west Londoners can lure him to Stamford Bridge this month.
