Man Utd Trump Chelsea After Agreeing 5-Year Deal With £27m Ligue 1 Star

Manchester United have beaten Chelsea to the signing of Serge Aurier as the PSG full-back is set to move to Old Trafford on a five-year deal.

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Man Utd close-in on Serge Aurier….

It looks like Manchester United have beaten Chelsea to the signing of Serge Aurier as Goal claim the Paris Saint-Germain full-back is set to move to Old Trafford on a five-year deal.

Aurier has been tipped to leave the Parc des Princes following the arrival of Dani Alves from Juventus and he was omitted from PSG’s pre-season tour in order to secure a move this summer.

The Ivory Coast international has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent weeks with both Chelsea and Man Utd touted as potential suitors in the media.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Chelsea were looking to hijack United’s attempts to sign Aurier with PSG ready to do business if £27m was put on the table.

Antonio Conte is in the market for another attack-minded right-back to compete with Victor Moses in the wing-back role and Aurier has been earmarked after the Blues missed out on Danilo to Man City.

However, it seems the Premier League champions are set for more disappointment as Goal claim Aurier is heading to Old Trafford after agreeing terms over a five-year contract.

The report doesn’t specify any exact details about how much the 24-year-old will earn or what United will pay PSG, they only state that Aurier is on his way to Manchester as long as he overcomes his legal issues.

The full-back is currently awaiting an appeal hearing after being blocked from entering the UK following his conviction for assaulting a police officer outside a nightclub in Paris last year.

If he’s successful with his appeal and is granted entry to the UK, then Aurier is set to become Jose Mourinho’s fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof.

Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to further strengthen his squad before the end of the month and Aurier’s arrival would provide stiff competition for Antonio Valencia in the right-back spot this season.

The Ivorian joined PSG from Toulouse in 2014 as one of the most highly-rated full-backs in Europe and while his time in Paris hasn’t been smooth, he’s still a quality player who will strengthen United’s squad if they get this deal over the line.
