Jose Mourinho has met with Arda Turan and a move to Manchester United could now be on the cards for the out-of-favour Barcelona attacker, according to reports in Spain via the Express.
Turan earned a move to the Nou Camp in 2015 after enjoying impressive spells with Galatasaray and Atletico Madrid but his time at Barca hasn’t gone according to plan.
The Turkish international has struggled to hold down a regular place having made just 14 La Liga starts last season and he’s unlikely to be involved in new boss Ernesto Valverde’s first team plans this term.
The 30-year-old is being tipped for a move during the closing stages of the window and while a return to boyhood club Galatasaray has been explored it seems Turan could be offered the chance of a fresh start here in England.
That’s because the Express are citing a report from AS that claims Manchester United are also a possible destination for the attacker this summer as Mourinho is a long-term admirer.
The Spanish outlet says the United boss has met with Turan several times and a move to Old Trafford could now be a possibility with the player’s agent, Ahmet Bulut, enjoying a close relationship with Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes.
It remains to be seen whether United would be able to agree a deal with Barcelona if they did formalise their interest but Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to sign a wide attacker before the window closes.
Turan would be an interesting option as he was outstanding during his time with Galatasaray and Madrid while he’s also shown flashes of his ability while at Barca so I think he’d be a decent addition to United’s squad.

He’s primarily used on the wing but Turan is also capable of playing a more central role so he’d give Mourinho plenty of options in the final third if he was to make a move to Old Trafford over the coming weeks.
