[Video Highlights] Stoke 1-0 Arsenal: Jese Sinks Toothless Gunners

By on August 19, 2017

Jese Rodriguez scored the only goal of the game on his debut to earn Stoke a 1-0 victory over an unfortunate Arsenal side at the Britannia this evening.

Arsenal controlled the game for long periods and should have been awarded a first half penalty when Diouf chopped down Bellerin in the area but the referee didn’t give it.

The hosts then opened the scoring shortly after half-time as Granit Xhaka’s sloppy pass in midfield was punished with Stoke cutting through the Arsenal back-line to allow Jese to slot home.

We pushed to find an equaliser but Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud both missed great chances while Alexandre Lacazette was unfortunate to see his excellent goal ruled out for a tight offside call.

Arsenal huffed and puffed but couldn’t break Stoke down so they held on to secure a 1-0 win with the Gunners suffering their first defeat of the season.

Well you say ‘Toothless Gunners’… but in this particular match we were genuinely unlucky. There was the penalty. Buttland kept them in the game – 1st half. If matey was offside it was by 3 ml. It was Welbeck who was toothless. And we had to carry our idiot Manager. Bellerin was a non factor – I wonder if that was because he was a right back, selected at left wing back ? And a winner of a Manager would have taken Welbeck off long before. Oh well, only 8 more months of Wenger (correction – 2 more under performing seasons !)
