Tottenham Finalising £22.9m Deal To Sign Chelsea & Man Utd Target

Tottenham are thrashing out a £22.9m deal with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Chelsea and Manchester United target Serge Aurier this summer

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final weeks of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Spurs close-in on Serge Aurier…

Tottenham are thrashing out a £22.9m deal with Paris Saint-Germain to sign Chelsea and Manchester United target Serge Aurier this summer, according to L’Equipe via French Football News.

Aurier is set to leave the Parc des Princes following the free transfer arrival of Dani Alves from Juventus and the full-back has attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League this summer.

The Sun reported last week that Chelsea had joined Tottenham and Manchester United in the race to sign the Ivory Coast international after Antonio Conte had identified him as the man to offer competition to Victor Moses in the right wing-back position at Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho has also been tipped to make further additions before the end of the month and Aurier would be a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Antonio Valencia if he moved to Old Trafford.

However, it looks like Tottenham are now in pole position to sign Aurier as French Football News are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Spurs are in advanced talks with PSG thrashing out the finer details of a £22.9m deal.

The French publication says Tottenham have already agreed personal terms over a five-year contract with the 24-year-old after he held extensive talks with Mauricio Pochettino about a move to north London.

Tottenham desperately need to sign a top class right-back to offer competition to Kieran Trippier following Kyle Walker’s move to Man City and Aurier would be an excellent addition.

The proposed deal now hinges on the outcome of Aurier’s appeal against an assault conviction which saw him sentenced to two months in prison for attacking a police officer in Paris last September.

L’Equipe claim that the players lawyer is now working on an official document that details the outcome of his appeal – which has already been decided but hasn’t been made public – and makes clear Aurier won’t spend time in prison.

This document is expected to go a long way to helping Aurier receive a work permit after he was refused entry to the UK following his conviction. If he doesn’t get a work permit, then the move to Tottenham is off.

It’s going to be an interesting few days but the situation regarding Aurier should be a lot clear by the end of the week, and I think he’d be an excellent signing if Tottenham could get this deal over the line.
