Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final days of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Oxlade-Chamberlain rejects Chelsea move…

Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected a £35m move to Chelsea as he would prefer to join Liverpool before Thursday night’s deadline, according to Sky Sports News.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the final year of his contract and has been looking for a move away from the Emirates this summer after refusing to sign an extension.

Arsene Wenger had initially suggested the midfielder wouldn’t be sold even if he didn’t sign a new deal but that stance changed following face-to-face talks with the player last week where Oxlade-Chamberlain expressed his desire for a fresh start.

Chelsea and Liverpool have been strongly linked with the England international in recent months but the Blues emerged as the front-runners after the Mirror reported that Arsenal were reluctant to do business with the Merseysiders following their acrimonious dealings over Luis Suarez.

It looked like Oxlade-Chamberlain was heading to Stamford Bridge as Sky Sports claim the Premier League champions agreed a £35m deal with the Gunners.

However, the news outlet says this morning that the 24-year-old has now rejected the proposed move to Chelsea as he would prefer to join Liverpool to work under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.

The news will come as a huge blow to Antonio Conte as the Blues boss had earmarked Oxlade-Chamberlain as the man to compete with Victor Moses in the right wing-back position.

However, the feeling is Oxlade-Chamberlain would rather be deployed as a central midfielder and he believes he has more chance of playing in his preferred position at Liverpool.

We must now wait and see whether Arsenal will be willing to deal with Liverpool if/when the Merseysiders formalise their interest but time is starting to run out before Thursday’s deadline.
