Arsenal Making Late Move To Sign £32m German Star As Sanchez’s Replacement

Arsenal are making a late attempt to sign Julian Draxler as Arsene Wenger looks to find a replacement for Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez

Managers are now pressing ahead with their plans for the final days of the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal are back in for Julian Draxler….

Arsenal are making a late attempt to sign Julian Draxler as Arsene Wenger looks to find a replacement for Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez, according to the Mirror.

City are fully expected to come back in for Sanchez today after seeing their opening £50m offer rejected and the newspaper says Arsenal are demanding £70m for the Chilean super-star.

Wenger has insisted all summer that Sanchez wouldn’t be sold even if he doesn’t sign a new deal but, as with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, that situation will change if we receive a suitable offer AND we can find a replacement.

It looks like Wenger has gone back in for one of his long-term targets as the Mirror claim Arsenal are trying to secure a late deal to sign Draxler from Paris Saint-Germain.

The German international is being tipped to leave the Parc des Princes following the £200m arrival of Neymar and the Metro reported earlier this week that Arsenal were lining-up a £32m bid after opening preliminary talks with PSG.

The French giants are expected to sell in order to help balance the books ahead of the impending arrival of Kylian Mbappe so a move to the Emirates could be a distinct possibility if we can agree a deal.

That would allow Wenger to negotiate the release of Sanchez to City with reports suggesting the Citizens have already sent a medical team to Chile to rush through a medical once a deal is agreed.

If we can’t strike a deal for Draxler, the Mirror claim we’ve already made another enquiry for Thomas Lemar but that deal is unlikely while Riyad Mahrez is regarded as a third back-up option.

It’s certainly going to be a fascinating day with Sanchez right at the middle of things but I’d love to see Draxler come in as his replacement if we do end up selling the want-away South American.
