Chelsea Launch Late Bid To Sign Brazilian Full-Back

Chelsea have made a late bid to sign right-back Rafinha but it looks like Bayern Munich are keen to keep hold of the Brazilian, according to Bild

Deadline day is here and managers are frantically trying to get those last minute deals over the line so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Today, Chelsea are linked with Rafinha…

Chelsea have made a late bid to sign right-back Rafinha but it looks like Bayern Munich are keen to keep hold of the Brazilian, according to Bild via talkSPORT.

Antonio Conte is desperately trying to further strengthen his squad before tonight’s 11pm deadline and someone to compete with Victor Moses in the right wing-back position is a priority.

The Blues have been linked with a number of players and it looked like they had snapped-up Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before the Arsenal midfielder opted for a move to Liverpool.

It looks like Conte has quickly moved on to other targets as talkSPORT are citing a report from Bild that claims Chelsea have made a bid to sign Rafinha from Bayern Munich.

The former Brazilian international has been with Bayern since joining the club from Genoa in 2011 and has helped the German giants win a whole host of trophies including 5 Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.

The 31-year-old would therefore bring a wealth of experience and he may be open to the move as he’s struggled to hold down a regular place at Bayern with David Alaba and Joshua Kimmich well ahead of him in the pecking order.

Rafinha is predominantly a right-back but he’s also capable of playing on the left so he’d offer good competition to Moses and Marcos Alonso if we was to move to Stamford Bridge before the end of the day.

However, it looks like Chelsea’s attempts to sign Rafinha will end in failure as Bild claim Bayern aren’t interested in selling because Carlo Ancelotti sees him as a valuable squad player.

It’s another frustrating blow for Conte so the Chelsea boss is now going to have to move further down his list of targets if he wants to sign a new full-back before the window slams shut at 11pm.
