Chelsea have completed the signing of Italian right-back Davide Zappacosta from Torino in a deal reportedly worth £23m.

Antonio Conte has been desperately trying to bring in a full-back all summer but the Blues boss has been frustrated with his pursuit of several key targets in recent weeks..

Competition for Victor Moses in the right wing-back role was identified as a priority and after missing out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool, Conte turned his attention to Zappacosta.

News broke earlier on Thursday that the Italian international was flying-in to London to undergo his medical and discuss personal terms after Chelsea had agreed a deal with Torino for his signature.

Those formalities have been concluded as Chelsea announced on Chelseafc.com a short time ago that Zappacosta has joined the clubs on a four-year contract.

No precise details of the deal have been released by either club as yet but the Mirror claim Chelsea have paid Torino £23m for the 25-year-old right-back.

After completing his move, Zappacosta told the clubs website:

‘It is a dream for me to join Chelsea and play in the Premier League. I am very excited to be here and start working with the team. I hope I can show my quality to the coach, my team-mates and the supporters.’

Zappacosta has been with Torino since joining the club from Atalanta in 2015 and he’s been capped four times by the Italian national team having previously played for the under-21s.

He’s a specialist right-back who’s also capable of playing as a wing-back so he’s the perfect addition for Conte and should be a useful signing for Chelsea this coming season.

Good for Chelsea to have Zappacosta and strengthen the backline/right wing back. The midfield is also in good shape especially with the expectation of Drinkwater from Leicester City but same cannot be said of our left wing back and the attack. Imagine Chelsea going into four competitions with one striker – Morata, who’s still finding his feet in the Premiership – and an average striker in Bashuayi, not minding his performance during the pre-season. Why did Ox-lade and Barkley rejected Chelsea after agreeing personal terms and reaching agreement with their respective clubs with Barkley quitting after having his medicals! Truth be told, the Chelsea Board needs overhauling!

I am disappointed at this board dealing in the transfer market for the past two seasons. In fact, this season is worst. They need to buck up their ideas indeed … Barkley, Ox, Lukaku, Lorente, Danilo, Kyle Walker … Damn! That is not good enough…

For me i love is doing in transfer market, i believe they did thier underground work well with before they come with set of players, imagine last season people condem thier signings but it turn out to be the best they achieve thier airm, this season this same thing repited, forget about the players that disapoited themselves not Chelsea it was made to be, we’ll see the end who laugh last, there is a lot of competition in tranfer market this days so let it not be that Chelsea is compiting with any club, let’s see what will happen next, i trust the coach God is with him, he will make history in CHELSEA FC.
