Tottenham Suffer Fresh Injury Blow As Lloris Becomes Latest Doubt For Arsenal Game

Tottenham have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Hugo Lloris emerging as a doubt to face Arsenal after suffering a thigh injury against Real Madrid.

Tottenham have been dealt a fresh injury blow with Hugo Lloris emerging as a doubt to face Arsenal after suffering a thigh injury against Real Madrid.

Lloris was seen limping towards the end of Tottenham’s stunning 3-1 Champions League group stage victory over the reigning European champions at Wembley last night.

The goalkeeper injured himself after colliding with Madrid defender Sergio Ramos in the second half as Spurs booked their place in the knockout stages of the competition with a famous win.

Mauricio Pochettino didn’t reveal any information about the injury after the game but Lloris was subsequently left out of the France squad for their upcoming friendlies against Wales and Germany.

French boss Didier Deschamps has now confirmed that Lloris has been ruled out for at least 15 days after tests this morning revealed the ‘keeper has sustained a thigh tear.

Deschamps is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard:

“Hugo injured himself yesterday. He underwent tests this morning that confirm a tear in his adductor (thigh). He will be absent for a minimum of fifteen days.

“If Hugo had been [part of the France squad] Steve Mandanda would have played a match anyway because it was important to give him one. Now he’ll play at least one. After we’ll see.”

The 30-year-old will now miss Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday as well as his countries games during the upcoming international break.

Lloris will then be facing a race against time to get himself fit to face Arsenal in the north London derby at the Emirates – which takes place in 16 days time on November 18th.

If the keeper makes a swift recovery he could just about make the Arsenal game but if he takes any longer than the minimum 15-day prognosis, then Lloris would be ruled out of Tottenham’s clash with their north London rivals.

The news is the latest concern for Pochettino as Toby Alderweireld is also a major doubt to face the Gunners after being ruled out for ‘a few weeks’ with a hamstring injury that he suffered last night.
