Liverpool have been handed a major boost as Sadio Mane has returned to full training ahead of this weekend’s trip to West Ham.

Mane has not featured for Liverpool since the 1-1 draw with Newcastle a month ago after suffering a hamstring injury while away with the Senegal squad during the October international break.

The 25-year-old was initially expected to be sidelined for at least six weeks, however, Mane has made a swift recovery and has been snapped taking part in full training this afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp said on Tuesday that he hoped the attacker would be able to resume training later this week and and Mane has now made his return a full two weeks ahead of schedule.

The attacker was put through his paces with the rest of the Liverpool squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to the London Stadium – although it remains to be seen whether Klopp will risk Mane against West Ham.

Obviously it’s good for the player to be back quicker than expected but the concern for Liverpool is Mane will now probably feature for Senegal in their World Cup qualifiers during next week’s international break.

As long as he comes through the double-header with South Africa unscathed, then Mane should be in contention to make his comeback when Liverpool welcome former club Southampton to Anfield on November 18th.

However, while the return of Mane comes as a boost, there was no sign of Philippe Coutinho or Dejan Lovren on the Melwood training pitches today so it looks like they’re running out of time to be fit to face West Ham.

Gini Wijnaldum was also absent at training today after picking up an ankle injury against Maribor last night so he too could miss the trip to the capital this weekend.
