Manchester United’s injury woes are about to ease as Jose Mourinho has suggested his injured players will all be close to making their comebacks after the international break.

The Red Devils have had to make-do without the services of several key players in recent months with Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini all on the sidelines.

Pogba has been out since suffering a hamstring strain during United’s Champions League win over FC Basel back in mid-September and the midfielder has taken longer than expected to recover.

Ibrahimovic has been on the sidelines since suffering a horrific knee ligament injury during the Europa League quarter final win over Anderlecht last season but he’s been back in light training after making a swift recovery.

Team mate Marcos Rojo also suffered a knee ligament injury in that same game back in April but the Argentinean international has been in full training for several weeks and is close to making his return to the first team fold.

Fellaini made his comeback with a substitute appearance during the 1-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday after missing the previous six games with a knee injury that he picked up while away with the Belgian squad last month.

Mourinho praised the midfielder for making himself available for selection for the trip to Stamford Bridge, despite only training once with the first team squad before the game.

The United boss has now said the injured players will use the two-week international break to work towards full fitness and suggests they are close to making their comebacks.

Mourinho doesn’t give a specific comeback date for any player but he feels the quartet will all be raring to go as we head in to the busy Christmas period. He’s quoted as telling ManUtd.com:

“We have the group of players which are the ones that we hope will recover as soon as possible,”

“They have to work every day but they are in a good position now. Pogba, Ibra, Rojo, Fellaini. They are in good positions so I think we can go into this part of the season, the Christmas period, and after, in a strong position.”

We’ll have to wait and see how many of the quartet will be available for the visit of Newcastle to Old Trafford when United get back to Premier League action on November 18 but it looks like they are all close to full fitness.
