Arsenal & Liverpool Open Talks Over Deal To Sign Ligue 1 Attacker

Arsenal and Liverpool have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential deal to sign Julian Draxler on loan during the January transfer window

The transfer window may be closed but clubs are still working hard ahead of January and next summer so we’ll bring you all the latest gossip from around the globe. Today, Arsenal and Liverpool are linked with Julian Draxler….

Arsenal and Liverpool have opened talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential deal to sign Julian Draxler on loan during the January transfer window, according to reports.

Draxler emerged as one of the most exciting youngsters in German football during his time with Schalke and Wolfsburg before joining PSG back in January of this year.

The 24-year-old attacker enjoyed an encouraging first six months in France having scored 10 goals in his 25 appearances during the second half of last season.

However, his place in now under threat following the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the summer with Draxler often being asked to play in a deeper midfield role to accommodate the big-money signings.

It seems the German international has attracted some serious interest from the Premier League with Arsenal and Liverpool both understood to be keen to lure him to England this winter.

The Metro are citing a report from L’Equipe that claims Arsenal have made contact with PSG to discuss an initial loan move for Draxler in January as Arsene Wenger prepares for life without Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

Draxler has been linked with a move to Arsenal for many years so it’s no surprise to see the Gunners being touted as a potential suitors once again as Wenger will need to rejuvenate his attack if both Sanchez and Ozil leave over the coming months.

However, it looks like Arsenal will face some stiff competition as L’Equipe, via talkSPORT, are also reporting that Liverpool have opened talks with PSG about a loan deal to sign Draxler.

Jurgen Klopp showed an interest in the German before he joined PSG and it seems the Reds boss has renewed his interest as Philippe Coutinho continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.

We’ll have to wait and see how things develop over the coming months but PSG need to free-up some wages in order to comply with FFP guidelines so they may be tempted to let Draxler leave and I think he’d be a superb signing for Arsenal or Liverpool if one club could get a deal done.
