Manchester United will be desperate to get back to winning ways following their derby disappointment when they take on Bournemouth at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Ahead of the game, Jose Mourinho has been speaking to the media at his pre-match press conference this morning and he’s offered reporters a team news and injury update.

The United boss offered the latest on Marcos Rojo but it’s still unclear whether the defender will be available for tomorrow’s game after picking up a head injury at the weekend.

Rojo was forced to receive treatment after suffering a nasty cut to the head during the first half against Man City and was eventually replaced by Victor Lindelof at the break.

Mourinho says the Argentinean international is a ‘brave guy’ but he’ll need to be assessed to see if he’ll be available for selection against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

If Rojo is ruled out then Mourinho has options to call upon as Phil Jones was back on the bench at the weekend after recovering from a thigh injury so the England international could be recalled tomorrow.

Mourinho told ManUtd.com:

“He’s a brave guy. I don’t know how he is – let’s see if he can be ready for the match. But if he’s not ready, we have other alternatives to play.”

“Phil Jones was already on the bench at the weekend. The injury is behind him and hopefully he can stay fit for the rest of the games.”

Mourinho didn’t offer any update on Marouane Fellaini at his press conference today but the midfielder is understood to be close to making his return from a knee injury.

However, Eric Bailly is still several weeks away from overcoming a groin injury while Michael Carrick hasn’t featured for some time due to a heart condition.

United head in to the midweek action sitting 11 points adrift of City following Sunday’s defeat so Mourinho knows they simply have to win tomorrow to stay in touch at the top of the table.
