Tottenham will look to close in on the top four with a win when they take on Brighton at Wembley Stadium this evening.

Spurs ended a four league game run without victory after thrashing Stoke City 5-1 at the weekend so they’ll hope to build on that performance with another positive display tonight.

Despite that win, the North Londoners currently sit seventh in the Premier League table but a win over Brighton could see them climb as high as fourth if other results go their way.

The visitors arrive in the capital off the back of a 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield which leaves them just four points above the drop zone so former Spurs favourite Chris Hughton will be desperate for a positive result this evening.

Team news

Mauricio Pochettino will continue to be without Davinson Sanchez as he serves the second of his three-match ban so Erid Dier could once again start in defence.

Spurs were dealt a major blow with the news that Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out until February after suffering a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Victor Wanyama is back in light training as he bids to return from a knee injury but this game will come too soon for the Kenyan international while Erik Lamela will be hoping to feature at some point.

Brighton have no fresh injury concerns with Steve Sidwell their only absentee so Hughton has a healthy squad to choose from.

Expected line-up

Predicted Score

Tottenham 3-0 Brighton: The visitors have picked up just one point and scored just one goal in their last four league matches so it’s not a good time to be playing a Spurs side that just put five past Stoke. Tottenham were excellent at the weekend and another performance like that should see them ease to a comfortable victory.
