Manchester United will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they take on Everton at Goodison Park on New Year’s Day.

Here is the team I think Jose Mourinho will pick for the game:

Goalkeeper: David De Gea is certain to keep his place between the sticks as he’s probably one of the first names on the team sheet.

Defence: United could be without Ashley Young as the versatile full-back/midfielder is facing a three-game suspension after being charged with violent conduct following an incident during the 0-0 draw with Southampton.

Young has until 5pm this evening to respond to the charge but if found guilty he’ll be ruled out of the trip to Goodison Park and with Antonio Valencia still out with a hamstring injury, Mourinho would have a big decision to make at right-back.

Young Axel Tuanzebe is an option but I think we’ll see Victor Lindelof move out to the right with Marcos Rojo recalled alongside Phil Jones in the middle of defence. Chris Smalling is expected to miss out once again while Eric Bailly is still out with an ankle injury.

Luke Shaw has started in the last two games so Mourinho may look to freshen things up with Daley Blind coming in at left-back.

Midfield: Marouane Fellaini is still sidelined by a knee injury but we could see Ander Herrera recalled to midfield alongside Nemanja Matic tomorrow afternoon.

That would allow Paul Pogba to play in a more advanced position where he could have more influence in the final third as United certainly need to add some spark going forward.

Attack: Romelu Lukaku is expected to miss the next two matches after being stretchered off with a head injury during the draw with Southampton yesterday.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has also been ruled out for around a month with a knee injury so Mourinho may be forced to deploy Marcus Rashford through the middle tomorrow.

Anthony Martial should also be recalled to the attack after only being a substitute last time out while Jesse Lingard could keep his place with Juan Mata and Henrikh Mkhitaryan the men to make way.

Here is how we think United will line-up:
